Principle Nom who still hasn't heard anything...

I have seen on previous posts that most of the appointments so far have been LOAs or principle noms. If this is true, then is it a bad sign that I still haven't heard back from the academy yet on their decision? I was told by my MOC that I did receive a principle nom and I received that back in mid December. I understand that this is the month that the majority of the appointments go out, but I figured since I am a principle nom too, that I would have also known by now. So is this a bad sign?

my understanding is that a principle nom equals a dunk....is your file complete, are you triple Q'd? are you waiting any medical waivers? I would contact your regional director, perhaps he can give you some insight. good luck!

Yes, I completed my file in December, I have not heard anything on being triple Q'd, and I am not waiting on any medical waivers. I was also told from my MOCs academy coordinator that my district is also very competitive.

it sound to me like you have a regular nomination from your MOC and that you aren't his Principle nomination, by his comments about his district bring competitive. Fingers crossed for you.

Well the Academy Coordinator was the person who I actually found out from that I was the Principle Nom... and thank you.

What's an academy coordinator, someone who works under your MOC? Is it a reliable source? I'd call again and see what kind of slate it is, I believe your academy counselor can tell you as well. I'm not sure though.

Well for my MOC, she is the person who actually communicates with all of the academies and is the one mainly doing the work for my MOC regarding the service academies from what I have seen.

Hmmmmm....perhaps you need to contact your ALO and find out if you are triple Q'd. Medically, academically and physically...perhaps there's something there that you need to follow up with. Looking on the bright side of things, at least you haven't had a TWE. Chin up.

That makes sense, I'd give her a call and ask what kind of slate they have.

@ CandidateInSD - I will and that's very true, thank you.

@ USAFA Falcon 15 – What are the different kinds of slates

Principal slate: The MOC will send a list of ten names, but will select one as his principal nominee.

competitive slate: MOC submits a list of 10 and allows the SA to select the most viable candidate.

I think there is one more type of slate. Once CC or Pima sees this I'm sure they will give more detail.

I believe there is also a ranked slate, but not knowing the details, I left that for someone far more knowledgeable than myself.

Per the pdf on the Admissions website:

  1. Competitive Nomination - slate of 10 unranked nominees submitted for USAFA to rank (Most MOC's use this option).
  2. Principal with Competing Alternatives - slate of 10 nominees submitted, MOC designates the principal nominee, if the principal is fully qualified they are appointed, otherwise USAFA ranks the remaining nominees.
  3. Principal with Numbered Alternatives - slate of 10 nominees submitted, MOC designates the principal nominee as well as ranking all the alternate nominees.

Blackbird has nailed it precisely.

FYI...I have a candidate who is his MoC's "Principle" nominee...the MoC has been notified of the appointment; the "candidate" has not yet (MoC hasn't been able to call him to congratulate him yet) and it is NOT showing up online.

There you go! Be patient if you are truly the principal nom, it will come!

Best of luck!

I am sure CC feels the same way as me. Thank you for the compliment, but honestly if you want the answer for AFA FLIEGER is the go to person.

I am pretty positive that CC, Bullet and Myself hold one opinion in common.

Flieger =:worship:

We will all say our opinion is an opinion. Flieger actually is someone who assigns pts for that ALMIGHTY WCS. He is an ALO.

Alright thank you all for your quick and helpful replies. I guess I'm just going to have to suffer through a couple more weeks of waiting....
