I just found out my nomination was a principle nomination and had a question.

Will not having 20/20 vision (correctable 20/20) affect the medical qualification necessary to get an appointment?

I was told by DoDMERB that I am medically qualified, but need a waiver for my vision.

Thanks

Correctable to 20/20 with a Principle Nom should not be a problem. Waiver is decided by the Academy Medical and Superintendent as DoDMERB is black and white on qualification. My Mid and many others during Plebe Summer wore BCG's. There is a percentage for vision waivers for each class but I don't know the number. Then go to Bathesda for PRK!!

Congrats on your principle nomination!

I have 20/400 uncorrected vision and medically qualified without a waiver.

So you are okay!

Thank you both, that makes the wait that much more bearable! More good news,I'm 3Q,with the principle nom does that mean I get an appointment?

I wouldn't be worried about the vision. My friend actually got a medical waiver for vision. Then, the Navy paid for PRK and he just got his service assignment-Navy Pilot.

They'll hook you up. Best of luck!
