Hey! So I have had tests done years ago and had protein in my urine. I have mentioned it in my medical survey and am now scheduled to take the exam Wednesday. I have read some other threads recommending low activity and lots of water three days prior to the exam. However, I run cross country and have my senior night meet the night before. How do they test proteinuria? Do they do one test and if it shows protein they DQ you? What should I do?

There is no test during the initial DoDMERB exam for urine in the protein. You don’t have to prepare to give a urine sample on that day.

There is a question in the DD2807-2 that does ask if you have or ever had blood or protein in the urine. Sounds like you positively endorsed that question, so DoDMERB will take it from there.

The DoDMERB reviewer will either ask you to provide those medical records and/or send you to a lab sometime in the near future after your exam gets reviewed to provide a urine sample at a contract lab like Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics.

If you are asked to give a urine sample, then I would recommend doing no strenuous activity or exercise for 72 hours (certainly not the morning you give the sample) or else you risk spilling a small amount of blood or protein in the sample.
