having secured an appointment nomination form Sen Hutchison. Is the protocol to call the offices of Sen. Cornyn and Rep. Johnson that an appointment was made and withdraw the nomination request from them, or does the Academy send them a note? What about VP nomination also?

First, when you say appointment nomination, are you saying you have an appointment or are you saying you have a nomination?

I am going to take the latter, if the other sources have stated in a letter that if you get one you will not be considered for another, I would contact them.

If it is you have been apptd and charged to Hutchinson, but have other noms, the point is moot, because the list for the others have been submitted and they do not add names to the slate after the fact.

The VP nom comes from the AFA, they decide who gets it, no need to do anything.

Sorry to be clear got nomination and then call on acceptance (LOA) which I assume = appointment letter coming in mail soon. The Senators offices called about the acceptance but it was after the coaches did.

Long way to say appointment, i guess.

Rep Johnson, doesn't give out his noms til Jan. We have not heard from Sen. Cornyn's office yet

I would wait until the nom appears on line and in hand, then make the calls. You don't want to pull it and there be a mistake with processing the nom from Hutchinson.

It would seem Cronyn from your post has not notified, but closed their apps, and could have submitted the slate, thus it goes back to being moot since the slate is in. What the AFA will do is scratch your name from the list, and go to the next highest.

Sometimes you need to be selfish, and that means hoping that it works out, but keeping your cards until you no longer need them. Remember they need the nom, but that does not mean you will be charged to Hutchison, you could be charged to the Supe list for all you know.

Until you get the actual appointment in your hands, you should go to ALL NOMINATION INTERVIEWS. And if more than one member of congress gives you a nomination, that's good. Some times, MOC's in a state don't talk to each other. It's better for everyone if you have more than one nomination. I could give you numerous reasons why; but let me give just one example. You have a representative and a senator's nomination. Another person in your state also has just a representative's nomination. Time comes, and the academy says: Hey representative, you're only allowed 1 slot. (Your other 4 are filled). Being you have a rep and senator, the academy can let the other person keep the representative's nomination, and let you use the senator. If you only have the one, it doesn't allow any manipulation by the academy, and one person could be without an appointment. This is just 1 of many reasons to get ALL THE NOMINATIONS you can get. Once the actual appointment is given, the nomination is accounted for. It doesn't matter then. But until the actual nomination, it's better to have as many nominations as possible. mike....

Congrats to those from Texas with nominations in hand! Here is an entry from Sen. Hutchison's web site:

December to January 2010: Academy Coordinator finalizing Senator Hutchison’s nominations, by working with other Texas Congressional offices to ensure duplicate nominations are not made.

Late January to mid-February 2010: Nomination notification letters mailed to applicants.

Since some noms have already gone out, the timeline may be different. It would also appear that an attempt is made to not have duplicate noms from Texas. Sen. Cornyn's web site mentioned that his selection board would be meeting on November 20. (Last Friday)

And the rest of us wait ........
