Hubby and I were thrilled when son received nomination letter yesterday in mail from Sen Saxby Chambliss for USAFA Class of 2014! Letter was dated just three days after his interview - woo hoo! We are surprised at the fast turnaround but over the moon with this news! When will we know if USAFA has admitted him?

On Tuesday, son was awarded full NROTC scholarship - so that is great news too!

Just had to share - so excited!

The GA senators and congressmen have amazing staffs! Congrats to your son! If he has an LOA, you should hear soon...if not, sit tight til March-ish.

Congrats to him and to you, yes it is an exciting time.

So is he holding out for something better (like USCGA? ) or is he going to accept one of those?

When will we know if USAFA has admitted him?

When he shows up on I-day and takes the oath.

As for getting the appointment, the nomination only gives the academy the legal authority to offer an appointment, it does not guarantee one (unless he had an LOA with a nomination condition).

PS - as you are a retired AF officer, didn't he already have a Presidential nomination?

Mom3boys - no LOA dang it...he just submitted the final part of his AFA appplication on 13 NOV, so I figure we are too late for any kind of LOA
Not sure I can stand waiting till March to hear something!

Luigi59 - sorry, no USCGA....he's only interested in AFA (due to hubby having graduated from there and me being ret AF) or USNA (my father, grandfather, uncle and cousin all graduated from there). Yes, he does have Presidential.

Wish I had a crystal ball to look into the future....
