Question on the PRT test that includes Curl-ups, Push-ups and 1 1/2 mile run. Must you get the minimum on each (60 points each) and score 180 points or can you get say 70 on both push ups and curl-ups for 140 and score only 40 on the 1 1/2 miles run but still end up with 180 total points?

You must meet the standard on each to pass. The requirements are not that high. Everyone in decent shape should be able to pass. If your DS cannot pass, that should be his priority between now and the start of INDOC. Do not aim to squeak by, but be well above standard. It is one of the few things your DS really has control over, so he should take advantage and remove that stressor from his immediate future.

The mins to pass are currently 47 push ups, 57 sit ups, and 12 min for the 1.5 mile. They literally added a minute for the kids under 20. The run for kids under 20 used to be a bit challenging but not anymore.

My son is 18 so I thought he had to get at least a 11 minute 1 and 1/2 mile. so is it actually 12 miute mile?

Shoot for sub-11 and you’re good either way.

The academy used to hold everyone to the standard set for their age, but recently they changed the standards to the standards of someone over 20 since that's the age you will be when you commission.

It's 12. The Naval Academy has a 10:30 limit for each mid regardless of age. So I always shot for sub 10:30. Annapolis is not better than us.
