PS tips

Some good gouge ..and great attitude.
Two keys ... arrive in shape (if you are not now, its too late !); keep a good attitude.
(And by the way, I agree 100% on memorizing Reef Points early .. )

Personally, I think that the stuff in Reef Points is pretty good stuff to know. I bought my own copy when my DS went off to Plebe Summer and found that I liked reading it. Some of it was review, but some was new to me as well.

the reply to "What time is it?" was a beast for my old brain to recall. DD, who's memory is great even had a bit of trouble with that one.

I can still see my mom's eyes rolling every time a sucker asked what time it was in our house. Dad would reel off the answer in mach speed rendering the unsuspecting individual speechless.

As in the video, don't memorize reef points but do know what you are expected to know when you arrive.

In my opinion it really doesn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with the stuff you know you’re gonna have to learn anyway, such as the General Orders, Code of Conduct, Man in the Arena, Rifleman’s Creed, etc. Would make you and your classmates’ lives easier if you aren’t struggling to recall all the rates. Of course, it all goes out the window at the end of Plebe Summer so in the long run it doesn’t matter that much.

It can't hurt to "familiarize" with basic military knowledge, including Chain of Command, Ranks, etc. I was lucky, between Civil Air Patrol and going to NAPS, those things were already ingrained. It's got to be tougher hitting Plebe Summer completely cold, but every year almost a 1000 kids do --and they get through. As I've said before -- if you know Reef Points cold, the Detailers will find another way to put the pressure on !
