PSAT scores and NASS

I applied for NASS yesterday using my PSAT scores. I did not do that well, but I took the SAT in January and the scores will be sent to Annapolis. Do you think that the scores will get there before they make a decision about me? I am positive that I scored much higher on the regular SAT.

SAT Scores were low

Well my son applied last night to Summer Seminar. His PSAT scores were low and the SAT scores weren't much better. He has been encouraged to take the ACT in April. However, he is excellent on all other accounts. Hopefully, he won't be defined by just that one number.....

Even though candidates aren't selected based on a single number, the SAT/ACT score is apparently an important part of the WCS used by USNA. Many places in this forum you will find suggestions from parents and BGOs to have students take both of the standard tests "early and often." Some schools offer SAT/ACT "prep" classes, and you can find prep books and classes. Have your son keep at it, because practice really can help candidates to significantly improve their scores. Good luck!

My son received good news yesterday - he got in to NASS!!! When he got home from baseball last night, he picked up his mail, ran up the hallway and then never stopped smiling!

congrats to your son! NASS was a defining experience for our mid - and last year she served on the NASS detail.

Keep us informed of your son's decisions for his life
