What should someone in moderate shape expect PT wise? Is it mostly running? What are some good ways to prepare for someone who can only comfortably run 2-3 miles?

The better shape you are in, the less you will have to worry about this issue and the less likely you are to become injured and possibly set back. So why wouldn't you use the next six months to get into something better than "moderate shape?". The most intense PT is during INDOC, and consists of a lot of running, core strength exercises, and push-ups/planks. You do not want to draw attention to yourself by being among the worst prepared of plebe candidates. My DS, who was a cross country runner and wrestler, described it as disappointingly easy. My DD, who absolutely hates running but has excellent core strength, did fine even though she was one of the slowest runners because she did more sit-ups than anyone. She reported that several male plebe candidates cried from how hard it was for them. Your experience will vary depending on your preparation, your mental fortitude, and the weather. I would recommend working out during the warmest part of the day if possible to prepare yourself for the heat and humidity of July in New York. I would also recommend getting good quality, well-fitting tennis shoes and extra insoles because you will spend virtually all day on your feet on hot surfaces during INDOC. Good luck.

Thanks! I was just trying to see what I should work on besides running, so I will definitely try and improve my sit-ups as they are definitely lacking.

Assuming you passed your CFA. May I ask what you scored on your CFA? Just wondering what I need to shoot for as a minimum.

My first tip is do not shoot for the minimum. I did every exercise until I physically could not any more. I do not know the exact numbers, but it was about 75 for bball throw, 10 pullups, no idea on shuttle, low 30's on situps, mid 40's on pushups, and 7:47 on mile
