PTR

DO NOT stand too close to Alumni Hall doors. There is a vacuum there, possibly a wormhole, that will suck in any P2B standing too close.
I am in the "get it over with" camp and we did the opposite. DS had a report time after 0900 last year. We got there early and had a last family picture on the yard with a civilian DS, asked him if he was ready, then purposefully got him to the line early to get sucked in at 0700! We got to relax and later I staged at the bus loading point behind Alumni Hall, while DW and DD waited at the Midstore offloading point. Took lots of pictures before heading to the picnic/lunch hosted by Alumni Association at hospital point.

It's just good to be forewarned about the Alumni Hall vortex.

DD had earliest report time--never thought I would forget it but was it 0615 (?). She slipped into Alumni Hall and I CELEBRATED--spent the morning skipping around the yard-filled with happiness and relief. Launched! DH went straight back to hotel, cried, mourned and missed the marvelous moment by the Mid store when off marched DD (on the third bus of the morning). I treasure those pictures! She had made it through the labyrinth--all parper work in order! Hooray! For those of you going through this process, you have no idea how great it is to drop a healthy plebe off at those doors. No flu, no twisted ankles, no disqualifying weird freak accident the week before I-Day etc. (You will hear about those unfortunate ones!). Celebrate!

This exact process was repeated 12 hours later when she took her oath and marched into Mother B. I was elated and filled with joy and pride while DH cried and thought about charging through the doors and taking her away. Point is this: everyone goes through this process differently. We passed a mom on the way out of the yard who was sobbing uncontrollably. No judgement--to each his own.

Worden Field is a good place to "hide". Bathroom at the Gazebo and nice place to hang out far away from the Black Hole of Alumni Hall. Good Luck to all. Nodiva: It was his allergies as I told my wife it was mine causing the tears. Stribling Walk was also tough at the end of the day.

We are from Naptown and Yes, "allergy season" does begin that same day. They are really bad in MD. ;)

Another heads up, my CIS just updated to show the "Permit to Report Packet" Section and the "Sponsor Program" form.

DS had the same portal update, as well as a form for uniform measurements...taking that form with him to his prom tuxedo fitting

Good place to take the measurements. Also, for future Plebes and families, don't get overly concerned about the measurements. They will be measured and re-measured at nearly every fitting at USNA, so basically 1-2 times a week during PS. They use these measurements to mostly get an idea of what sizes to order. On I Day one of their first stops will be measurements. They will then go around a maze and collect more clothes than they can ever fathom. One of their last stops in Alumni Hall is to try all the gear on. If it doesn't fit, they will get different sizes until right (don't worry when you see them on I Day... white works will be way too long and super stiff. they get much softer and they will go to the tailors in the first few days and have them all shortened). Every time they go to the tailor shop for their working blues, summer whites, SBDs, etc they will be re-measured, try on, get marked for tailoring. Tailors are free for uniforms and can be tailored throughout your time at USNA.

And still no PTR here in Colorado 06...we must have the slowest snail mail on the planet...no big deal, but DS would like to get started on paperwork others have had for a week

As a former enlisted the tears begin to flow at the Stadium commissioning when you pin those butter bars on (damn those allergies). Then again a few years later for the next one when you put on those Ensign Boards aboard the USS Constitution (Mass has pollen also). You will cry and laugh all those years. Enjoy the ride with all your children no matter what they choose.

Nothing here in CO-06...Is anyone else still waiting out there? Keep telling DS this is a chance to get used to hurry up and wait...

Is there a specific way the report times are organized? All but one person, including myself, that I have talked to has gotten a 0615 time. Just curious.

Nope. Fairly random and it will all get mixed around once you get there.

NAPS and prior enlisted report one day early. Can't remember exactly, but usually the Appointees who stay in Bancroft the night before get brought over by the detailers in mass so times really don't matter.

I am wondering if DS last name starts with a later part of the alphabets and/or when he hit accept...
Mail flights to Colorado are infrequent...
People in Colorado are very "relaxed "?

Lots of guesses...none are helpful! :D

LOL! That's great...all of the above...in the big scheme it's pretty minor...love the folks on this forum...the humor and perspective is awesome :)
