Public Service Academy??

especially their Commander in Chief.

From the Terms of Service, written by Zaphod.
This is a patriotic website where we love our country and hold the members of the Armed Forces in the highest esteem. While you are free to discuss and debate policy, tactics, trends, and so forth, posts which criticize the United States in general or the Armed Forces in particular may lead to a ban if the only reason for posting them is to insult or belittle.

Just a reminder...I am only speaking for myself here.

In the past when talking about the President I stated that I don't always agree with their policies or decisions but I have respect for the office and for the person filling it. I recognize that being President is a stressful job and that the President is human which means he will make human mistakes. I get disgusted by the disrespect shown for any president.

I didn't tell anyone they COULDN'T call the President a Nazi. I only said that it makes me sick.

Z - you agree with liberals on what?

LITS - I don't know who is calling protestors "mobs" now vs. "patriotic" last year but it isn't me. If they are protesting the war I do not agree with them. I would never tell them they are not allowed to protest but I would never participate.

Remember the NSDAP was founded as a "Third Way" economic system. Corporations were not actually controlled by the government but were significantly directed by government influence and financial control through the banks. Ever heard of the Volkswagen or "peoples car"? Who do you think thought of that one? They had their CZARS also.

An official in the federal govt. Someone is welcome to post the video.

They are protesting, or at least, voicing their disagreement with the health care reform. You've probably seen it on the news, people shouting down senators and representatives at "town hall meetings."

Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer! "Deutschland Uber Ales" We beat them twice, although the French still think they saved the United States in Two World Wars, and we don't need their philosophy here. National Socialism is not the way to go however it may be disguised as Health Care For All. Have you been to an emergency room lately with one of your kids? You wait in line forever while the kid is bleeding and thirty other people in the room have a cough or sniffles "hablo espanol". By Federal Law anyone reporting to an emergency room must be treated. Where are all these uninsured and untreated without healthcare?

How does one say, "Seig! HEIL!" in Kenyan?

I'll rephrase.

It's not a good example to set for future service members to refer to the President contemptuously.

In the United States Of America, where we still have a 1st Amendment, yes, it is perfectly OK to imply the current President is a Nazi.

What a great country, especially when the system works for both parties.

It is a little hypocritical to see all the objections to anyone who mocks President Obama, by the same people who thought it was the highest form of protest to laugh at pictures of President Bush drawn as a monkey.

And yet if you opposed those people laughing at pictures of President Bush then you are being a little hypocritical for defending those who want to compare the CIC to a nazi becuase as my grandmother would have said two wrongs dont make a right.

I was appauled by just about everything to do with the rule of the previous president, I was disgusted with just about everything he did from the day he took office to the day he left it, he made me ashamed to be American. But no matter how deep the dislike it never escaped my notice that he was the duly elected President of the United States and it would never have occured to me to compare him to people who systematically liquidated several million people in gas chambers.. To suggest such a comparison is not free speech it is hate speech...

Amen. and as JAM pointed out in the terms of service, has no place on this forum where the purpose is to assist young men and women to prepare for a life serving their country.

Case in point - In July 2008 Vanity Fair publishes picture of GWB as The Joker from Batman.

Cover is lauded by The Left as free speech, as dissent, hailed as the highest form of protest in a free democracy.

Cut to July 2009 - Posters of Obama as The Joker are showing up all over LA. The posters are roundly criticized by The Left as hate speech, racist, unfair, mean-spirited and even "dangerous."

In fact, throughout the Bush years, demeaning drawings of the President and Vice President Dick Cheney were quite commonplace.

Pointing out the hypocrisy in this country between the Left and the Right seems to really rile those on the Left.

Folks the original post was on the proposal for a Public Service Academy. This thread has veered considerably off course. Please keep in mind the "Forum Posting Guidelines" which you can find in the Community Information Forum if you need to review them. Keep in mind that regardless of your feelings about current policies or past ones, on this forum -whose purpose is to serve future military officers- there are limits to how we discuss the leadership and Commander in Chief. Bottom line- we need to steer this back from the hijacked course it has taken. No more Nazi's, NSDAP, Sieg Heils etc... If you want to debate the extensive list of Pros and Cons of the proposal- fire away.

Okay so why do we actually need this academy? Public service is a great idea, but an academy would make more of a mess in the govt. You graduate from the USMA, you go into the Army. You graduate from a PSA, where do you go? State dept working with 3rd world countries? NEA working with inner city schools? HHS and working with Aids or Red Cross? It is just too broad of a spectrum. You would have to revamp the system. There is no clear cut mission that would fill a void. The SA's exists to groom future officers of the respective branches. What govt organization would the PSA be grooming?

Pima's right; in the military there's a system of structure; a real organization. The public service system would need to have that regimentation I suppose if they were to go through with this....

Mombee, we're still allowed to have our own opinions when we serve our country. After all, we serve to protect that in which we believe in: the Constitution, to protect our families.

Luigi's go a point though about the hypocrisy of the Left. They ask people to be tolerant of their opinion, buy when others espouse a view point that they do not like, they insult it.

Just because people dislike the president or his ideas does not mean that they disrespect his office...we salute the office, not the officeholder.

Remember, for a military member, demeaning language or action towards a superior officer (to include the CIC) is punishable by the UCMJ.

That's just, you know, people. Not the Left or the Right, just most people. It's also a generally irrelevant point. Hypocrisy doesn't make someone's point wrong, just makes the person a jerk.
