Does anyone have any tips for pullups from deadlock? I have read that you retract your shoulderblades to start the movement, but I'm not 100% sure what that means. I can do a few pullups if I start with my arms even slightly bent, but if I lock my arms between reps, I do not know how to do another.

Retracting shoulder blades means bringing your shoulders back so that they get closer to touching each other. Pullups from deadlocks are generally done in one movement, with the shoulder blade retracting and the pull-up arm as one fluid motion. I would search for "CFA Pull-ups" and watch some examples.
