Qualifications for Minorities?

I'm a little bit confused about the qualifications for minorities. I'm Asian-American and I've read on the previous forums that Asian-Americans qualify for this, but I've also read that they don't qualify. Does anybody know the answer for this?

So because I'm Asian-American, should I contact the Minority Recruiting Officer?

Sorry I sound ignorant, I really just don't know

I say give it shot. Contact minority admissions and see what they say.

Good luck.

I should add though that you won't get much out of them. Just do your best!

I don't believe that Americans of Asian descent are under represented at West Point, thus their applications are not managed by the minority admissions reps.

You are correct, sir. WP doesn't consider Asians to be minorities for admissions purposes.

Yes and no.

There is no Minority Recruiting Officer. There are Diversity Outreach Officers.

"West Point strives to reflect the diversity of America. If you are a member of an under-represented minority and meet our admission requirements, we encourage you to apply."

The challenge is how West Point define "an under-represented minority?"

The simple answer is blacks, hispanics, and American indians.

Thank you for your responses. I will try to contact the Diversity Outreach Officers and see what they'll have to say.
