Qualified, awaiting appointment status

Is anyone else here still waiting to hear back from West Point?

FALCONDRIVER: Congrats to your DS. I have a DS just completing his SWAB year at USCGA. He is so happy with his decision to go there eventhough it has been the roughest year of his life. He is now on the Eagle for 6 weeks. My DD is waiting for a USMA appointment but accepted civilian prep at Marion. She is still hopeful that a spot will open up in 2017. I suspect our regional liasion would call and let us know if that was going to happen versus the BFE showing up in the mailbox. We are still hanging on and waiting!

QNS Finally Arrived

Looks like the appointment offers may have come to a close. DS received the QNS in the mail on Saturday, dated Tue May 14th. Had heard from our MOC that WP Admissions was aiming to get final decisions out to everyone by the 15th, so that appears to have happened in our case.

DS took the news very well, and seems relieved to be done with the waiting game. Since receiving the AROTC scholarship to North Georgia, he's known he was headed down the path to becoming an Army Officer either way, and has become more excited about the prospects of UNG during the long wait. Plus he'll be only an hour away from home, vs. all the way up the East coast in NY, so the family's happy about that. Army came and did a nice presentation during his graduation ceremony as well, which was a surprise to him and very well received.

Thanks to everyone on the forum who has provided advice and encouragement along the way. Have a lot more to learn now about the ins and outs or ROTC life and the Army in general, so I'll continue to hang out on these forums so I can be of some use when DS comes to dear old Dad for advice

Any way to confirm if admissions is completed for this year?

Portals?

For those candidates who were QNS, what will happen to their portals? My DS's portal is still accessible. Will Admissions send some kind of communication regarding whether or not the QNS candidate wishes to keep their portal open if wanting to seek another appointment for 2018?

If the candidate has received a QNS letter, he/she should be able to reopen their file for thr next class by going to the West Point Admissions homepage and clicking apply. They will have to reenter SSN, etc and it should ask them if they want to reopen their file for 2018.

That makes sense. Thanks!
