qualified vs candidate

Amen. I can't put it any better. I can't imagine either what they go through every year. They know as well as we do that all those kids have worked soooo hard. I think the USAFA gets a lot more qualified applicants than most competitive colleges though. I think it is probably right up there with the Ivy League.

I so agee with you Christcorp. I think there is something to be said about physically having that BFE in your hands. It is not as real I think on the internet. Also I think that these kids have poured their heart in it and I agree that receiving the package shows a certain appreciation. I even think getting the TWE on paper is more personal. It shows that someone took the time to handle the issue.

Pima understood I was not very complete in my exp on her package. Yes that was unweighted GPA 3.75. She is in all AP classes that were available at her school and took honors on the remaining. She is in the top 10% of her school. Her senior classes include Calc, Phys, Lit, etc. Sorry all that wasn't clear. ECA includes varsity soccer, Recon Raiders and chosen as best raider girl to represent school in Nationals. And I think her package is pretty competitive. She is on the advisement board for the Principal, she is a senior ambassador for the school, Beta club, 4H, Company Comm ROTC, and tons more. I just didn't want to go to detailed and take up everybody's time considering it is really the SAT score that will hurt her. I would love to brag on her all day but it really was the straight forward answer I was looking for. And I think inside my daughter and I already knew the answer. My main concern was if her status didn't say qualified but candidat instead does she still qualify for prep school. We have made peace with the fact that she probably won't directly get appointed to the USAFA after we received the score of her SAT. I think the HR still gave her the nomination because her package is pretty impressive, she said even the ALO said he was very impressed with her package. I do feel much better knowing that she might be a good candidate for prep or falcon. thanks all for all the info. This forum is awesome.

In essence what you are saying is she is a poor test taker. She has the foundation which will be great for her.

Candidate is candidate. Only the AFA decides which goes left to prep and right to AFA.

I highly doubt anyone here would say she is an in for either or an out for either. The SAT hurts for the AFA, helps for the prep. Just like everyone else nobody can say she is a lock for either.

Curiosity did she take multiple SATs? I would also suggest to register her for the spring SAT/ACT JIC. AFA superscores.
