Hey guys, just posting this to give some future candidates some hope when dealing with peanut allergies and dodmerb. I tested severely positive for peanuts on a blood and skin test in January and immediately began oral immunotherapy that culminated into passing a full oral challenge. This was all over the span of five months and was completed before my initial exams.
After providing proof of my passing I submitted my physical and paperwork to dodmerb and was placed on administrative remedial. They just needed some further documentation and I was met with an email saying I had been qualified for NROTC and AROTC.
While passing a full oral challenge is not possible for all, I hope it does give some hope to anyone trying to get over this obstacle in the future. I was never disqualified from the start either. The key is being proactive and doing the things necessary to take care of your allergy. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out.
