Does anyone have a DS or DD who is currently majoring in Quantitative Economics? If so, how do they like it, and what is their opinion about it? I'm currently awaiting a decision for the class of '27, and I'm currently looking into the different majors. I was originally interested in Nuclear Engineering, and it's still on the table, but Quantitative Economics looked like a good major choice.

P.S.: Good luck to anyone awaiting decisions for the class of '27, and also good luck to the '28 SS applicants:) Hope for the best for all of you!

DS is not a QE major but just some info. Plebes have a major fair in January where they are able to learn about all the majors and then they select in March. There will be time to talk to upper class during Plebe year and get some info and opinions.

3/C DS is a math/operations research major who recently sought to shift to QE. (There's a major overlap of pre-reqs). Discovered that QE is limited to 30 mids so he sticking to the O.R. path.

Any particular reason? The overlap between them seems much larger than the differences.

Just 30! Wow.

Most of the football players are QE majors. If the limit is 30, it would be hard for anyone else to get that major.

You will figure it out.

HOLD UP!

There are two of you?

Whoa 🤯
Lol identical. He is an idiot though.

Years ago a client/friend saw us at Walmart. He didn’t know who to talk to. He told me his wife won’t believe it. She was a branch manager at my bank. She told me her tellers are trained and they could tell us apart. So I sent him in to take money out of my account.

The tellers need better training. They gave him my money.

Pretty sure this is the latest major my son said he was considering. When I said QE, he said, no, it was something else. But he also said they only take about 30 from each class, so this is lining up with what he was describing.

But the 4-year class matrix thing he sent the other day says, "Mathematics with Economics Major" on it, not QE. Wonder if that is the same?

Needs of the Navy! Even in major selection.

Math with econ is the old QE, and is a hybrid of math major with economic courses. New QE is different. I have no idea which one people are referring to, since both have been called QE.

Descriptions of current Math with Econ vs QE.
