Question About Applying Outside of District of Residence

Since I am applying to USMMA, and I can apply to every MOC in my state, do I have to do anything such as notifying the offices of representatives outside of the congressional district I live in that I am someone who is not a resident of that district but am seeking a nomination? How would I go about doing this as I had only limited myself to the senators and my representative since I don't know what to do specifically before hand for those outside of my district.

Go to each MOC's web site to find out their nomination procedures and follow their instructions. Then call each one's home office and talk to the highest ranking staffers you can get to. Be politely aggressive. You will probably have to convince them your request is acceptable. Many, if not most, have never heard of KP, and if they have , know nothing about it. Don't be surprised if the same can be said for the MOC.

You might be pretty surprised in mine. The USNA Grad Congressman and the former Submarine Officer/Current Reservist Military/Veterans rep seem to be pretty knowledgeable about the little school on Lawn Guyland sound.
NOTE: This past cycle, my interview team (one of 6 teams) interviewed 2 out of district candidates for KP.

Our son tried to do this when he was applying, not one member said they would accept applications outside of their district, they insisted they represented their constituents first. I understood that completely, but it's a landlocked state that some years, sends no one to KP.

Your experience will vary depending on your state and the experience level of the congressional staffer who handles service academy nominations. Definitely contact the staffer by phone or make an appointment and meet in person to discuss out-of-district nominations before putting your application packet together.

That's tough, hoped everything worked out in the end for your son.
