Reflecting on the experience of my DS from three years ago, he initially purchased Belleville boots prior to his departure for I-Day, even wearing them to break them in. At the last minute he decided not to take them (to this day I don't know why he made this decision but dad got a new pair of boots because of it 
). He wore the boots that were issued to him on I-Day, eventually buying his own. So it may be worthwhile considering not taking any and wear what is issued on I-Day. It will certainly make travel a little lighter and easier.
