Does the letter actually state Letter of Assurance? My son recieved a letter today from the admissions office that his application has been reviewed and he is fully qualified, but he has not yet recieved a nomination.

My wife thinks it's a LOA, but i'm thinking it's just an update on where his application stands.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I knew that my letter in September was a LOA because it said that they "reserved a cadetship" for me contingent upon receipt of a nomination, etc. It also starts off with "Congratulations!" From what you wrote I don't think it is a LOA, it sounds like it is just telling him that he is 3Q'd. I could be wrong though.

the words "Letter of Assurance" MUST be in the body of the letter.

My LOA read:

"Congratulations! The Admissions Committee has recommended you for an appointment to the United States Military Academy (USMA)...
... The Admissions Public Relations Office offers overnight candidate orientation visits for candidates who have received this letter of assurance. "

Hope this helps!
