Just a quick question...
I'm outside the limits placed on myopia by the USAFA. Would this immediately disqualify me? or would I be accepted (assuming that everything else is perfect) but need to go through PRK surgery?
All answers are appreciated

This is taken directly from DoDI 6130.03, dated April 28, 2010. It is still current, at least as far as I can tell from the DOD websites I can access.
These are the DQ items.

(2) 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye (369.75).
(3) 20/20 in one eye and 20/400 in the other eye (369.73).
b. Current near visual acuity of any degree that does not correct to 20/40 in the better eye (367.1-367.32).
c. Current refractive error (hyperopia (367.0), myopia (367.1), astigmatism (367.2x)), in excess of -8.00 or +8.00 diopters spherical equivalent or astigmatism in excess of 3.00 diopters.
d. Any condition requiring contact lenses for adequate correction of vision, such as corneal scars and opacities (370.0x) and irregular astigmatism (367.22).

If you do not meet the requirements of DODMERB for accessions, they will DQ you. You must meet the minimum standards for entry into the military.

If you did not meet the standard however the SA decided that they wanted a waiver, and the AF surgeon's determined that a waiver was possible and allowed one, then you could be cleared.

I won't sugar coat it; if you are outside the standards, it will be a very tough road.
