Does taking part in the USMC DEP increase chances of getting a 40-year scholarship?

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I must say the "40-year scholarship" gives new meaning to the phrase "professional student"!

 (j/k!)

It may increase your chances because it shows you are committed to join the military no matter what which they like...not sure, but that's what I think.

Guidance here... You may very well be motivated and such, but there are objective requirements you will need to demonstrate:

Good SAT scores (better than 500 Math and 500 Eng)
Good Academic Background - Shoot for better than 3.00 GPA
Solid recommendations from Teachers/Coaches/Instructors
Physical Fitness

Desire and motivation are good, but translate those into "quantifiable" things the Officers can measure you by.

Good luck!

I would agree with 2012, Because when its all said and done you should want to be a Marine first and foremost and then to want to lead Marines just as badly. When I went to VMI's over night stay, the Cpt. that just got there was on the "board" and he basically told us the requirements that particular board looked for and sure enough " is this candidate in the DEP,Eagle Scout, etc"
