So, I just got home this evening and found I had a letter from West Point. I must admit, I was hoping it was about SLS; however, it was instead informing me that my Candidate File had been opened (not all bad news, been waiting for that moment since 8th grade). So my question is, this letter, is this just stating that they have receive my SLS application? Or if I may read much to deeply in, does it mean they are still considering my application, and did not throw it out on first sight? I only ask this because I have heard of others getting this letter and their rejection at the same time.

Thanks

a week before i received my acceptance letter, i received a letter encouraging me to apply for SLS. i dont know if this is the same letter you received. nonetheless, i don't think it has anything to do with the status of your SLS application.

I also received the same letter encouraging me to apply, but it was not this one no. I happen to believe you are right that is has nothing to do with SLS. Thanks for responding.

I received the candidate file letter and the letter encouraging me to apply about a week after I submitted it. Last week, I got the rejection letter. So I suppose that you could expect to receive an acceptance or rejection soon (hopefully you get the acceptance). Good luck!

Haha at least you didn't have to receive the letter encouraging you to apply AFTER they turned you down as I did.

When I got my acceptance, it was in the form of a big packet... so look out for that, not a letter!
Good luck, hope to see you there!

Alright, well thank you all for responding. I will be sure to look for the big packet!
