Hi everyone!

I have an LOA from USNA, no nomination. Is it still a possibility to receive any nomination at this point (applied for VP) or to even be offered a spot at NAPS? Or a spot with the Foundation? Are appointments post April 15th possible?

Thank you in advance!

The answer to all your questions is “yes.” There is precedent for all of those.

I don't usually ask this, but what are your basic stats ? I am curious because I don't think I have seen someone get an LOA, but not get an NOM. The LOA usually means USNA saw something in the application they wanted ...but somehow your MOC didn't.
Did you apply for all possible Noms ?

I did apply to all nomination sources I had: congressional, senatorial, and VP. I was nominated by my congressman for all 3 service academies requiring nominations except for USNA, even though it was my first choice. As for my senators, I was not nominated by either. I have yet to hear back for the VP nomination.

Do you know of other nomination possibilities for USNA other than my last chance, the VP Nom?

My DD got a message in April last year that she was put on the wait list. She is a recruited track athlete. She received an offer for the last spot in NAPS at the end of May 2018. It was quite a surprise, she had already committed to another school and paid housing deposit/orientation fee.

Don't give up, but make sure you act on Plan B...many scholarships have a 5/1 acceptance deadline, and any athletic scholarships need to be accepted if offered by their deadline. If you are recruited, keep in touch with the coach. I was amazed at how much DD & the coach texted and kept in contact.

Sorry, I am a little technologically challenged, I'm a mom! LOL Anyway, my daughter was put on the wait list in April (received an email and her status was updated to reflect wait list). She is a recruited track athlete. She remained on the wait list, and received an offer for the last spot in NAPS at the end of May 2018.

She had already committed to another school and paid a housing deposit and orientation fee. I was surprised how much she and the coach communicated, even after I thought it was all "over". She had a nomination, but you do not need one for NAPS.

Don't give up yet, but follow through on plan B--deadline on most academic scholarships is 5/1, and athletic could be sooner depending upon the offer.

No worries! Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. I’ll definitely hold on hope, but I’m starting to look at other schools with an NROTC scholarship as my last resort. I’ll let you all know what happens!

Good luck with everything, you have a great resume and I am sure you will do well. I know it is a stressful, emotional roller coaster!

So you have an LOA and a congressional nom and are still CPR? Are you sure you aren’t medically DQ or waiting on a waiver of some sort

OP does not have a MOC Nom and has an LOA from my understanding. They did apply for the VP nom though.

I’m slightly confused as well but I think OP has congressional noms to other SA’s, no congressional to USNA (1st choice), but an LOA to USNA (applied to VP nom)

OP did you receive appointments to the other SA’s you applied to, with moms?

Also curious what your USNA LOA requirement was. A nom? An interesting case for sure.
