Question about traveling home

Not sure why you felt the need to reply to that with snark, as it's a valid question. "Cadet at large" contingents are available for a lot of away games, just keep an eye on your email during the school year. There's also a chance of you sending up personal paperwork to go to a game as long as it's not on a training weekend.

Chillax all,

Hopefull, it will depend on the game, the area, your squadron... too many variables.

In any case, you will be responsible for all travel expenses unless you are on the team.

Incorrect. Cadet at large contingents take mil air. They're only responsible for lodging, which wouldn't be an issue for someone from the area.

I think in general, that cadets that are currently at USAFA are going to be your best source of information regarding issues such as this. As parents we have some of the information but the current cadets really know what is going on ;)

I don't personally know of anyone who took mil air to an away game, that wasn't a BIG game. My sons have been gone for some years now though

There's a traveling contingent to most of the away games. The Academy arranges milair to and from, but you're on your own while you're there. Depending on who they are playing, and how much airlift the Academy can get determines how competitive it is to get a slot. I went to the SDSU game last year, and it was pretty competitive to get a slot. But I remember them asking for people to go to the Utah State game up until the day of the game last year. Army/Navy are always very difficult to get a slot on, and if there is a contingent for Michigan State or Hawaii this fall - I would expect it to be pretty tough to get milair. But there's usually an SCA to attend games if you arrange your own travel, assuming there's not any big training events that weekend.
