Question for a Prior Enlisted Preppie

If appointed to the USAFAPS, would an enlisted member still only require AF IMT 1786 and commander indorsement or would they then need a nomination?

Preppies need a nomination for a USAFA appointment.

From the USAFAPS Admissions website: "Note that cadet candidates do not need a nomination in order to attend the prep school. They will, however, need nominations in order to gain an appointment to the Academy the following year."

Thanks. And when selected for the USAFAPS how early do you get your nomination? Does that go through staff at the USAFAPS or is it accomplished solely by the individual?
