This is a long shot - but does anyone know if federal civilian employment counts as anything (TIS specifically) when going to active duty?

NO, Civil Service does not count toward TIS if you go into the military. Going the other way, you can "buy back" your Military Service time for retirement purposes, but not for pay or seniority purposes. It may get you a better starting GS Grade (because of knowledge, skills, and abilities), but nothing else. Certain Civil Service jobs do offer a better chance at Direct Commission, or OCS, but as far as I know no TIS is granted.

Possibly others here could comment with more recent information. My experiences are pretty far back..:)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but nobody can give me a straight answer and when I ask myPay they say to ask my Pay section in the Army, except I'm not on active duty yet. I'm prior service, now current federal employee, going back to active again. I figured it might be worth a shot considering they're both considered active federal service.
