I finally got a diagnosis from the Dr after 5 months of different tests and treatment. They determined that I have restrictive airway disease which could be also exercise induced asthma. I am on a AFROTC scholarships and waiting for EA's currently. I know from reading online that this diagnosis is an automatic disqualify if it comes up after the age of 13. I submitted my paperwork to our NCO to submit to DoDMERB. My questions are:
a) Is this still true?
b) Is there a waiver based on PFT results? Will DoDMERB automatically give waiver?
c) Approximately how long will it take for DoDMERB to determine qualification? Most important since EA's are about to come out soon and hoping this will come before EA's do)
d) If I get disqualified do I have to pay back the money?

Thanks in advance

a) Is this still true? I'm not sure but I believe so.
b) Is there a waiver based on PFT results? Will DoDMERB automatically give waiver? DoDMERB does not issue waivers, they only determine if you meet the standards. , AFROTC will make the determination as to if they will grant a waiver.
c) Approximately how long will it take for DoDMERB to determine qualification? Unknown by anybode on this site. DoDMERB is swammped right now with the incoming ROTC kids and SA kids.
d) If I get disqualified do I have to pay back the money? My understanding is if you had the condition previously but did not disclose then you will have some seriuos explaining to do. If the condition developed after you contacted then you will likely have no repayment obligation.

Good luck.
