Question on Prior Enlisted Application

Hey guys, I have a quick question!

I'm currently a 3rd class enlisted sailor and am applying to USNA. It's been a long haul to finish my application, what with my qualifications, work, and a multitude of other things. Finally, though, I'm done! I think. My final recommendation was submitted today, and my application says "Complete Pending Review." However, I have NOT completed my BGO interview. I've been trying to get in contact with my BGO for a while now, and he hasn't responded, so I've been in touch with a higher up Admissions Counselor to figure out what to do.
My question is: if my application is CPR, do I still need the BGO interview as a prior enlisted applicant, or am I done completely? I'm just a little confused on what that means for me, since I don't think I'm 100% done yet.

Thank you so much!

Is your Admissions Counselor the senior enlisted leader in Admissions, the “Fleet Coordinator?” Do whatever “the Chief” tells you to do. Your CO’s endorsement and chain of command support, to my mind, serve as the BGO interview - but confirm that with the primary source, Admissions. I can’t recall this having come up before, so it will be good to know the answer.

I suspect some of our BGOs here will pop up.

Good luck!

I believe the Fleet Regional Director in the Candidate Guidance Office should be able to assist you with your questions. Good luck in your journey.

@Capt MJ No, my admissions counselor is a local Chief. The higher up counselor (I think he's a regional director, but I'm not sure) is a Lieutenant that I met at a USNA admissions event a few months ago.

Thank you so much, I'll still give them a call in the morning to confirm.

@ha1eyh I'm in the same boat with my prior enlisted application. I've already confirmed it with the regional director, for prior enlisted applications the COs endorsement and chain of command support does take place of the BGO interview. Don't be phased by the Interview not submitted status on your application.

I am curious tho, whats the current status of your application?

@Capt MJ I've seen you on just about every thread related to USNA. do you happen to know a currently active one more specified to prior enlisted applicants?

First, your application would be considered complete, with or without the BGO interview. (Admissions will review an application if the BGO interview is late).

Second, is the BGO identied in your portal near your original high school/home of record ? For the regular applicant, BGO's are automatically assigned according to the high school they reported. If your assigned BGO is back home..he/she may not know what do do with someone applying from the Fleet. (No excuse for not responding, but may be an explanation)

Admission's has a person dedicated to these type of questions, and he /she is a whole lot more qualified to answer questions from an enlisted applicant than most BGO's (or on this Forum). The Counselor for enlisted applicants is an ABHC -- As CAPT MJ suggested, "ask the Chief.." (BTW, that's good gouge for almost anything in the Navy !).

Hey another my enlisted friend,
Good to see you guys on here. I knew a few active applicants. Excitingly, I have already been accepted into Class of 2024 and I remember mine was CPR for a while. So don't lose hope until they say "NO".
If you have questions, please let me know. I'm currently stationed in Japan with FDNF but I'll reply ASAP. Best of luck to you! Hopefully see you on I-day.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

V/R,
PO2

Threads start but often wander off-topic, but people usually respond to specific questions. It’s usually better to start a new thread on a specific topic, than wake up a zombie thread that hasn’t been active in a while.
