I am not that familiar with the terms related to appointment and admission, but I was hoping someone could provide clarification for me on my current status. It has been my dream since ninth grade to go to West Point. I was admitted and participated in SLE. I recently received a nomination from my representative. Earlier this week I received word that I had received nominations from both senators from my state. I have now received a "candidate file qualified" letter. What exactly does this mean as far as my status? Any insight into my chances give this status?

Thanks in advance for any insight and clarification provided.

Three noms + triple qualified = you're in better shape than most. You have earned entry into three "races," i.e. nomination slates, from any one of which you might win an appointment. The "races" are won by high Whole Candidate Score (WCS). It is possible that you could lose all three. No one here can tell you anything further. We simply don't know how you stack up in WCS against the other candidates in each of your "races."

Previous admission stats indicate that you have approximately a 1 in 2 chance of gaining admission if you have a nomination and are fully qualified.

JMPO, but I think your chances are good. I speculate, because you have a representative nomination and both Senators, that you either a fantastic candidate and/or in a non-competitive area. So, if another candidate beats you in WCS on one Senator slate, that same candidate can't compete against you in the other Senator slate.

Good luck
