I have kind of a strange question. Can the average score on the ACT hurt your chances? Here is what I mean - my DS is above average on his SAT after taking it four times we decided to take that score and submitted it. He took the ACT and we decided to send those for free as offered before we got the score report, assuming he would do the same or better. However, his score is just average not as good as the SAT. it’s already been submitted so will this hurt him? I know he can retake it. He doesn’t want to, but he may just to get a better score.

The reason he doesn’t want to retake it is he has a 3.99 non weighted GPA, excellent references, great leadership, a brother at the Academy and a great CFA also he’s been cleared by DODmerb. Also I’m asking for USNA, USMA and Coast Guard, but didn’t want to post more than once. I know USNA people from last year so decided to ask here.

.yes the superscore ACT is average or a little below. I guess - will they focus on the SAT which is a little above average.
They take the individual ACT components and convert to SAT scores.

They take the highest component score achieved in either ACT or SAT test.

If you get 700 on math and English on SAT, and converted ACT scores of 750 and 600 … your superscore is 1450.

Oh wow. That’s actually really helpful. Thank you.

lol I only found out when my son called me plebe AY and said his SAT superscore at USNA was 60 points higher. Not sure why but he had to stop at admissions for something and they told him.

We didn’t know when he applied. He only took the ACT and SAT once. He didn’t study for ACT but somehow got 60 points higher on English for ACT than SAT. We honestly didn’t think his ACT grades were that great.

I am glad it helped!
