My son will be attending the USAFA. He will be in his first year. AF plays Army 11/6 at West Point. Will he be allowed to go? If so, how does he make the arrangements? Of course we are hoping he has nothing disciplinary or scholastic that would keep him from being able to go.
Basically are the first year students allowed to go to away games?

What is the procedure to attend an away game? Can you spend the whole weekend? Sorry for asking but I really would like to know so I can plan it out. Thank you for any help.

I'm not completely sure of the whole procedure, but this is what our son (a current 4*) did this past fall with the USAFA-USNA game. There were no classes the Friday before the USNA game; he applied for a "Triple S" type leave/release and was granted it. He flew to VA late Thursday evening on a commercial flight he paid for (well, actually arrived early Fri am), spent Friday at home, Saturday drove to the game, came home from the game Sat night, flew back to USAFA Sunday morning.
The interservice games are very popular so 4* often don't get on the list to spend the night at the sister SA.
As for football tickets -- those games sell out -- so, yes, you might want to get the tickets early and then if your son doesn't travel to the game you could probably sell them. I saw lots of requests for tickets on this forum & CC last fall.
But -- don't jump the gun on things yet. Your son hasn't even inprocessed - nor made it thru BCT. You really can't plan too much until that happens.

You are right, I guess I was just expecting him to accomplish what he sets out to do. I will wait until after BCT to get tickets.

After re-reading my post, that came across too harsh; I apologize for that. What I really mean is to wait a bit on finalizing your plans -- know that he can go to the game and come up with a plan to do that, but just wait a bit on executing it.
However, if you haven't made your PW hotel reservations, do that NOW. Hotels fill up quickly, especially if you need more than one room (if siblings or grandparents coming). But, be sure to check with the hotel on their cancellation policy. You can wait on airfare til he's in BCT and you're pretty sure he's staying, unless the airline you use allows changes/cancellations.
Best of luck to your son.
