Falcon scholar are people who didn't make it into the prep school or the academy. We were offered a scholarship to their civilian prep schools and as long as we pass their requirements, and get a nomination, we are normally offered an appointment with the next class.

Does anyone know if USAFA is/will host tours for appointees? There are regular visits for prospective students but wondering if there is anything specific for kids who have an appointment and not been able to visit the campus (recently).

There is an official one on Facebook but you can't join unless you have proof of appointment. Not sure if there are others out there.

It’s been mentioned in many threads USAFA is live transitioning to a new candidate management platform this year, probably Salesforce or another CRM.

And the data we see here depends on how many find their way to SAF to report appointments, only a tiny sliver of data that forms a jelly-like basis for any trend analysis.

Ds high scores and strong leadership but no LOA and not a recruited athlete. He submitted requested AMI on 1/3, received the waiver on 1/4, the Nom on 1/6 and the appointment on 1/15. He never expected things to move that quickly. None of us did.

I also got my waiver approved in one day but it was on 2/18 so the only appointment drop seems to have been on 2/19 which I wouldn’t have made the cutoff for most likely. Guess I will never know if the one day waiver means anything.

new to all of this...what is a falcon scholar?

From what I understand, USAFA Prep School is located at USAFA campus and is mainly reserved for prior enlisted soldiers or recruited athletes while Falcon Scholars are from the regular applicant pool who were not offered direct appointments. USAFA offers less than 100 falcon scholarships in a given year to the candidates they are interested in. If the applicant accepts this scholarship and successfully completes one of the 5 or 6 prep schools located across the country, they are almost guaranteed an appointment the following year.
