Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

Friday AM, our DS received a FFS and has accepted it and chosen NWP! He is on cloud 9 as this was what he had really hoped for. Having a year to get better ready for USAFA will be great for him and it sounds like NWP is fantastic! He already had a long conversation over the phone with Mrs. Durbeck and is very excited about this opportunity!

To all who are still waiting, keep the faith. Hopefully the good news will continue to come to those who seek it. I'm very thankful for this forum and the wealth of knowledge it contains, as well as the wonderful people that are in here. The caliber of candidates in here has really blown me away! We are indeed in good hands with our nation's military with all these fine young men and women coming up. This was our first exposure to the application process and it has certainly been an interesting journey to say the least! Its not over of course but at least our DS is headed in the right direction and we are thankful for that.

Congratulations- Good luck, and most importantly, have fun!

Anybody apply and receive ROTC scholarship(s)? Awesome backup plans, thank God I received a Type 1 AFROTC and 4-year NROTC scholarships, so if the USAFA pulls the rug under my feet tomorrow I'm thankfully in solid shape going forward.
My DD received a national ROTC scholarship. I'm glad we have a backup plan, but her portal still hasn't changed.

I have a 4 year type 7 AFROTC scholarship and am full rided to my college. Didn't get the academy but I'm set for success on my plan B at least.

To those who received TWEs (and got appointments, but usually it is those who do not who fail to do this):

BLUF: Reach out to the people who helped you on the application!

I make sure to email everyone who wrote a recommendation, filled out a form, or in anyway took time out of their lives to help me achieve my goal of becoming a cadet. Even though it is not good news, I believe it is the least I could do. If the courtesy is not enough of a motivator, for all you reapplicants out there, it would behoove you to stay in touch with these people in your lives as more and more time passes following your HS graduation.

Any reapplicants or soon-to-be AFROTC cadets feel free to send me a pm! We're all in this together.

Moho

Great advice!

Hello, I wanted to reach out to see if anyone is in the same or similar situation. I still haven't heard from USAFA about an admissions decision. Although I've received an appointment to USNA, USAFA has been my dream school since I was a sophomore. Regardless, I'm so grateful to have received an offer from USNA. Additionally, I received the J-100 so I'm set when it comes to backup plans. My point is, is there anyone else waiting for USAFA to get back to them? The wait is killing me :)

I am currently still waiting to here back from USAFA as well! Hopefully we hear something soon!

Heyo! I have a question whether Marion Military Institute is better than the Georgia Military College or vice versa? I'm deciding between these two for prep school but I don't know if one is better than the other.
My USAFA C3C DD went to MMI for her Falcon Year... She loved it, was on Honor Guard/Color Guard and is still friends with her classmates from Marion.

Yeah I am still waiting to hear also. My Admissions Team(Team Silver) responded to an email on Monday and said that they are running behind with decisions and that “decisions letters should be coming shortly” so whatever that means…

Reached out last week to the admissions team and they said they are running behind. I’m in the same boat, just waiting for a response

Did anyone else's FFS acceptance message disappear from the portal and get reverted back to the candidate checklist?

I got a voicemail from my congressmen today congratulating me on my "direct appoint to the United States Air Force Academy class of 2026" and I thought it was a very nice of him to call me, but he must have meant my FFS and not an appointment; an honest mistake.

So I went to check my portal just to make sure nothing had changed and the message saying, "Welcome to the Falcon Foundation" was gone. Already emailed admissions to try to see what happened, probably just a weird portal glitch, but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar thing happen to them?

It happened to our DS portal as well but he didn't get any call from our congressman.
