Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2027 USAFA Appointment Thread

I am guessing, its because if they complete the Prep in good standing, have the required GPA, and get a nomination, then they are in all reality "automatically" accepted to the AF Acadamy. There is no vetting process they need to go through. But this is just my guess. :)
If that was the case, they will wait for every single appointee to finish school to see if they still have a good GPA 😂😂😂 The Falcon Scholarship appointees receive their appointments in January/February, and they did not finish their Prep year yet.

For the Falcon Scholarship, HS, and College candidates the academy has to have someone review their resume and transcripts and make some determinations, but for the Preppies they don't. My thought with my comment on the "no vetting", is that the academy automatically reserve a spot for each preppie, then those that do not make it, for whatever reason, their spots are reallocated back and just given to the next candidate in line. I view it as if they already have the appointment and it is taken away if they don't meet the requirements they were told about, when they entered the Prep, i.e. GPA, good standing, fitness and so on. Once again this is just my guess and take on it. :)

Different Nomination Pool!
A large number/majority of Prep School folks will come in on Secretary Nominations which are only for enlisted members. Because the SAs want to spread those noms out as far as possible, it is better for them to see how many prepsters get MOC or other noms so that the Secretary noms can be spread elsewhere.

I understand that, but there are many Preppies that already have their MOC or Senator nominations, and still they receive their appointments in May.

Take a few minutes to think this all the way through. Just as I previously stated, the academies also want to make the MOC noms bring in as many of the people that they want as possible. Lets say for instance that YOUR MOC who submitted an unranked list, has three candidates that the SA really wants and you are one of them. Assume that they have not already handed out an appointment thus far. They could jump and offer you the slot OR offer someone else and bring you in on a secretary nom. Basically, it is in their interest to get the MOC slates or alt least most of them figured out before they work the Secretary noms.
I get that you're impatient and maybe a little teeny bit worried but you aren't getting yourself anywhere with this. Just keep pushing on at the Prep School and you'll be moving up at the end of the year. Endless arguments about why its one way or another aren't helping you at all.

It is my son at the Prep. And I am not concerned, and I do not see this as an argument at all. But the process is not clear. That is all.

Do a search for “The Congressional Nomination Process” podcast. That podcast tries to clear up the confusion of the process.

I wanted to let you know my DS had an amazing experience at NWP, made lifelong friendships and the Durbeck’s were the best! He gained so much from being there this past fall 22’. The best news is he received his USAFA appointment and will be part of co2027. ♥️
I LOVE THIS!!! 🥲 This is incredible news and I am super happy for you, your son, and the rest of your family. Your son has built incredibly strong academic, physical, and mental foundations at NWP, and each one will allow him to excel at USAFA. The sky is the limit for him, and you all have much to be proud of! You parents deserve an equal amount of recognition and praise as well. Look at the son you've raised and all you've done to get him to this milestone! Your sacrifices were and are just as important (if not more). Amazing work, mom and dad! 💪😃

Congratulations again, and buckle up for all that is to come! 😉

Sorry, I was responding based on the info below your avatar. The details about how prepsters move up to the SAs should have been clearly briefed, at least to them.

No problem. They are briefed on many things, not on the subject that I was asking 🤣

Thank you!! We are so proud of him and his next journey. I’m so happy I found this forum and NWP. 🥰 🇺🇸
