I have been notified that I haven't received a nomination to USNA. But, USNA is my dream school and I am really hoping to get into NAPS. Do you need a congressional nomination for NAPS? When would I find out if I received an appointment to NAPS? Also, how would I find out? Do they send a letter or email? I am very passionate about the Academy and I hope someone could answer some of my questions! Thanks!

A lot of good information on this forum already about NAPS. Please start there. Use the search function above and you’ll soon have your questions answered.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been searching this forum for a few days and it seems like there are some indirect and contrasting answers that confuse me. Do you have any previous experience with this?

You do not need a nomination to NAPS. A notification of a NAPS acceptance can come anytime, USNA’s goal is to notify candidates by April 15th of their status, this includes NAPS. Like any notification from USNA, your portal will update when a decision is made.

Thanks for that. So now I just continue to check my portal everyday to see if I get a spot? Also, I've been reading that there are two different portals? Do you know anything about this? Is there a possibility I could miss it, or will admissions notify me through mail, too? I apologize to so many silly questions, I am just very passionate about doing everything I can to get to USNA. Thanks for your help!

You have one portal. You will receive notifications via that portal. In years past candidates would get emails stating their portal is updated, but with it being a new system, not sure if that feature is working.

I can understand the anxiety and excitement, but take a deep breathe. This is a marathon.

I am fully aware that you do not need a Congress nomination for appointment to NAPS. Could anyone tell me if you nomination sources have any influence whether or not you go to NAPS?

MOCs do not have influence on who attends NAPS, that is ultimately up to the admissions board to determine.

I have seen where candidates state their MOC recommended them to NAPS, but it ultimately has no influence.

Thank you. I just wanted to ask because I've been talking with my BGO and he told me to contact them and express my interest to MOCs I've applied to.
