Questions on what to do after completing CQ?

I completed the CQ on January 15th. A few days later I got an email from my state coordinator regarding information about the application process. I know I am supposed to contact my FFR, but am I supposed to contact them, or do they contact me? I would assume that I contact them, but in my portal, it shows a CDC and State coordinator. Which one am I supposed to contact? When I do contact them what am I supposed to say or do they ask me questions? I'm just a little confused about this part of the application process. If someone could explain this to me that would be extremely helpful.

You should go to your portal and the tab on the far right will say "Field Force Representative", click that. Email your Field Force Representative who's email is under that tab. Be respectful, address as Mr. or Mrs. or Ms., introduce yourself, tell him/her a little about yourself and ask if you have any questions or concerns ask. Most importantly be genuine. If you cannot find a field force representative in your area under that tab I would say email your state coordinator and notify him/her.

In addition to this you should do research into how each of your MOC (member of congress, representative/senators) does nominations and begin to apply there. You can find this information on your candidate portal under the nominations tab. While you're at it see if you are eligible for any service connected nominations.

Start building good relationships with your teachers as they will be evaluating you later in the process. Continue to get good grades and continue to do extracurriculars you enjoy (ex. varsity athletics), also seek leadership positions (ex. team captain). Start researching and training for the CFA now it will help you immensely in the long run.

Other than that hang tight and the application will open for you in the summer, I think around August. Once it opens get as much of it done as early as you can (make sure its quality). You should also apply to SLE if you are eligible, and get in touch with your RC asking how you can make your file more competitive.

Be the best you, good luck!

I second everything bt18 has said. As a C/O 25 applicant waiting to hear back now I can tell you teacher relationships helped incredibly when it came to submitting SOEs and getting nomination letter of recs in a timely fashion as well as giving them strong things to discuss in terms of my character. I introduced myself to my FFR around this time last year and had the opportunity to meet him face to face at a college fair last fall which put a name to the face for the both of us and was super beneficial. My FFR has sent out monthly email updates and answered all my questions and even helped get me in touch with graduates in my community to talk to about nomination interview tips and academy life when I reached out and asked. Use them as a great resource for clarification and help to be as competitive as possible but don't over do it. They are volunteers and some may be busier than others. Good luck!
