Is it absolutely required to get in to USMA to have taken 2 yrs. of foreign lang.? If not, will not taking them lower my chances of acceptance?

Also, what classes in particular (exact names or class codes) is it possible to validate (not areas-i.e. social sci, math, etc.; I mean exact classes names)

2012Cadet we have covered the validation process with you several times already. I can offer you no new information.
If you need to know now as a college freshman, I suggest that you don't let it sway how your pick your high school courses.

From the West Point website:
Your high school academic subjects should include:
  • Four years of English, with a strong emphasis on composition, grammar, literature, and speech.
  • Four years of math: algebra, plane geometry, intermediate algebra, and trigonometry.
  • Two years of a foreign language.
  • Two years of a laboratory science such as chemistry, biology or physics.
  • One year of U.S. history.
  • Courses in geography, government, and economics will be helpful as well. If your school includes a course in precalculus and calculus in its curriculum, along with a basic computing course, we suggest you consider taking those courses because they will be helpful during your first year at West Point.

Again from the admissions website these are the only MUSTS:
    • Each candidate must:
    • be 17 but not yet 23 years of age by July 1 of year admitted. (The increase in maximum age is a result of a recent change to Title X, U.S. Code.)
    • be a U.S. citizen at time of enrollment (exception: foreign students nominated by agreement between U.S. and another country).
    • be unmarried.
    • not be pregnant or have a legal obligation to support a child or children
  • Keep in mind - ALL cadets, regardless of major, have to meet a foreign language requirement.
  • Also, foreign language classes are academic courses that enhance any college application. You will be competing against candidates who have completed 2 or more years of a foreign language.
