Quick question to anyone. I have an loa to mma but I might get Cs in 3 classes this semester. Will this threaten my loa? One class is an elective and I am only taking it for experience before i go to the academy. 2 others are core classes, but i feel as though one of the classes is unfairly graded due to a few things. Advice appreciated.

Bring those classes back to at least 3 Bs in Spring then you should be fine. If you have an LOA then most likely they just ask for final report card. But if you have too many Cs and Ds then you can be at risk of losing Appointment. Seen it happen. 1 or 2 Cs in AP STEM classes are usually not a deal killer since they are challenging in your Senior Year with many things in motion and Senioritis. Send your Fall grades to USMMA if they ask. If not stay low.

Your LOA is likely secure unless you are getting D's or F's. But the bigger picture is more troubling. Most serious candidates don't get 3 C's in all of high school. How are you getting 3 C's in one semester? You may be in for a rude awakening at KP with many of your classmates being A students in high school. Do not learn to be complacent with C's. You need to work harder or get extra help and get those grades up or you will drown at Kings Point.

I can't speak to whether your one class is being graded fairly. Only you know that. What I can say is that you need to treat it as though YOU are not measuring up and figure out how to get better grades. Not sure how this applies to an MMA applicant, but an AD Navy officer isn't going to be able to say, "But the enemy is treating me unfairly and not playing by the rules". Get on it.

You know what they call someone who graduates from medical school with nothing but Cs ?

"Doctor".

There will always be a teacher that's "unfair". At the Academy too. That's not an excuse when you don't do well in a class at USMMA, or in high school. I'm not trying to be harsh, but you really have to do whatever you can to try to keep your grades up. I can't speak to how those classes will affect your LOA, but just wanted to impart some advice. My DS had a class/teacher he didn't think was "fair" last trimester, but that just meant he knew he had to spend twice as much, three times as much, time studying in that class just to pass. Never give up. If you think a teacher isn't fair, you still need to find a way to make it through. You'll run into many situations in life that aren't fair, whether it be at school or in your job someday. Good luck to you, and congratulations on the LOA!

My son had an LOA. Earned a C in AP Chemistry his senior year. He was able to keep the LOA and accept the appointment, but they (i.e. Coach) made it very clear that the Advisory Board would revoke the LOA if he dropped below a C in that class. Do what it takes to pull up as many of those classes as you can. USMMA academics are super tough, the load is heavy, and the pace is quick. Several plebes from each company were academically set back after this first trimester. Very heartbreaking after all of that hard work. Be aware and be ready!

Whats heartbreaking about being set back a year? You graduate at 23 instead of 22 ... so what? All that matters is graduate, almost no one cares anything beyond that.

It would be hard on a kid to get sent home after busting your rear-end through Indoc and an entire trimester only to have to start all over. I think it's great that they at least have a setback and not dis-enrollment, but it still sucks.

How old were you at graduation, 30? All kidding aside, it isn't really a heart breaker to be set back a year. My class had two brothers, one was set back. Their last name was Turn. . . yeah, Turn and Re-Turn. . . . .

But if you were a deckie nobody cares even if you dont graduate, because you wouldnt have learned anything useful anyways.

Take this with a grain of salt, its not true or accurate by any means. I got more than 3C's in high school. might graduate in 6 months.
