R-Day

Thank you. This helps.

Is there any set schedule for the day ? if CC is reporting very early in the morning. How does snacks / food /lunch works ? We as a parents getting into anxious mode.

We believe in WP and its processes but not knowing something makes us bit off.

I am sure they all will do good and taken care.

Earlier is better for the New Cadet. Then family will spend the day taking it all in. Depending on the heat of the day. If you have elders or little ones with you, keep them rested and hydrated and as cool as you can. Take in the the brief by the SUPE and the COMM. The review at the end of the day is the culminating event. Usually around 1800. They parade into Washington Hall, and that is it until A-Day.

Recommend New Cadet eat a good breakfast if the nerves will allow. If reporting early it will be a long and busy morning and lunch will be the first opportunity for food. Others may know more, but would discourage New Cadet from packing a snack--don't think there will be opportunity to eat and it may well cause unwanted attention of the cadre.

As for the family, once you drop off you are free to go into town or back to the hotel for food, etc.

At our local parents club meeting this past weekend for new cadets, families were told that if your report date is 8:00 AM, do not report at 8:45+ (and the other reporting times that morning) because there is another group coming right behind. The report time also applies to arrival at Ike Hall, so you should probably back up 30-45 minutes to allow for getting on post, getting parked, getting on the shuttle and arriving at Ike Hall before the final goodbye. Your new cadets will be taken care of, but you might want to get them a light breakfast (not too much as their stomachs will be churning). They will get lunch. Do not pack snacks; they will not get to eat those. Make sure they hydrate well for the days prior because it will be hot even if it isn't hot. I believe the oath ceremony is scheduled for 1800 or 1830 on Monday evening.

Bringing "food of any kind" is in the Prohibited List of the packing list, Annex E. So no, the CC/NC should not bring food in his bag.

Reference earlier is better. Everyone tries this so unless you’re one of the first groups there will be a line. I’m not saying you shouldn’t get there early, just anticipate a line. This is where a snack or such might help if the parent has it. After the sixty second goodbye they can’t have it with them.
Don’t sweat it if you haven’t made it inside Eik by your assigned time.
Do NOT give your NC any kind of sleep aid the night before.
And finally, if you’re running late do NOT speed through Fort Montgomery. The police have speed enforcement there almost every day.

For parents that are new to West Point/Fort Montgomery, take note of this point about speed enforcement in Fort Montgomery. These local deputies are relentless. I have never made a trip there and not seen them running radar at some point during the trip. It is 35 mph almost as soon as you leave Bear Mountain circle almost to the fork to Highland Falls. Do not speed; they will not show you mercy.

Make sure your kid eats something and maybe carry a snack bar & bottle of water for him or her while you are standing in line.
For the cadet candidates, it is game day. They picked you because they know you have the stuff to make it. You’ve got this. And yes, it is totally normal during CBT to spend those nights staring at the ceiling, eyes leaking, while quietly regretting all of your life’s choices. It is part of the process. It is over quickly. Just live from meal to meal and wake up to sleep. It is six weeks, the first three are about how to be a cadet and getting all of your stuff and the last 3 are about being in the field. In between there is ice cream and technology! There are great memories to be made!

Really like the way you have put this:)

What if a female can’t do pull-ups on rday, if they did flexed arm hang for the CFA?
She will regret not having worked on them since the CFA and do her best to be in as good a shape as possible before reporting in, and deal with any consequences as they occur. She can ask herself what can I do about this today instead of posting about it? Have faith in your body to get stronger and gain skill and your mind to make you work at it.

Get a band & a bar and practice a few times a day. Watch the videos produced by the Marine Corps--from when they introduced pull ups as a requirement for Marines who are women. LTC Misty Posey was in those videos. I am not able to share a link here...but they are easy to find. Again, you have to practice more than once a day.

Edited to add: Are they going to send you home for not being able to do a pull up? No, they are not--but you can do it between now and next week.

I am going to post the link but break it up into spaces so that we do not trigger the alarms (I am an admin...)
Look at Marines . mil for
