Random ROTC Question

Son just forwarded me an email from an officer in the detachment of one of his selected schools congratulating him on being selected for an Afrotc scholarship.
Son had no clue. He has been trying to keep busy and staying away from checking his portal everyday. He wasn't selected last board and was going to be reboarded.

He hasn't received an official email from AFROTC. Do the schools detachments get notified first? Will he be getting an official notification soon?
 
I don't know if schools get notified first but I'd be checking my portal if it were me.
 
Thanks. He is so confused. His reboarded email he received on January 30 said he wouldn't hear anything until April. So this email is just out of the blue. He is attempting to check his portal. Now he has forgotten his password to the AFROTC portal, had 3 failed attempts at logging in and has locked himself out for 24 hours. Sigh...he is not having a good day. :)

TexasSoccerMom, my son has an AFROTC scholarship. I clearly remember last year, that the detachment at his college knew as soon as decisions came out that he was awarded a scholarship. I still have a copy of the congratulatory email they sent him, which he forwarded to me. Congratulations to your son; my guess is he truly has been awarded a scholarship.
 
I couldnt remember the login name for an account that I literally havent used in 10 years. So I hit the forgett the Username button. What is the first questions they ask me? What is my password. They assume I will forget my Username but will remember my password. I had the call the company and when I complained they said everyone has the same problem

Lol [emoji2] Reminds me of when my son was 10 he made the security question on one of his computer games. "What is my favorite food?" Then a few months later he forgot whether it was pizza, bbq ribs or ice cream. We had the discussion about security questions being things that will not change, dogs name, grandma's maiden name, name of mom's elementary school etc....
