If I get re-boarded, will I be notified or will I just know if I did not get an acceptance email or portal update?

At least last year, there was no notification change during a number of NROTC boards in which the candidates may or may not specifically have been reviewed, until a decision was made. Candidates did not know when/ if they are being reviewed at a given time - it was a black box. I recommend - get comfortable with that. Of course, not everyone is reviewed in each meeting. Ultimately in my DS's case an email was received and on that prompting we checked and noticed the portal was updated to reflect the decision. Others reported phone calls/ emails from their recruiter or other.

FYI, there were posted acceptances and rejections that came out iteratively (every few weeks after the boards) for some of my DS's classmates. others hung in there for months until their decisions were made - buckle in- it may take until mid-April or 2-3 weeks later. remember you can go the programmer route to compete for a scholarship if you are not offered a scholarship from HS. Also keep your other options open / apply to as many opportunities as you can in case NROTC doesn't initially work out as you would like.

Hang in there and good luck.

Was talking with a friend of my son at a wrestling meet last night who had applied NROTC-MO. He got a call a couple days ago that he wasn't awarded a scholarship from the first board, but would be reviewed, again, at the 2nd board. I didn't get a chance to ask him who called to let him know, but he did say he's had regular contact with the CO at his first choice school, so maybe the CO? He also said he's secured merit scholarship money at that school, so he's ready to join with or without the scholarship, but he's, of course, hoping to be awarded the scholarship.

I believe that NROTC-MO applicants are notified as there are only 2 boards and the number of applicants is much smaller. So far as I know Navy option applicants are not notified. I suspect this is due to the both the number of boards and the number of applicants.

All applicants get a notification after the final board.

Be prepared to dig in for the long haul; when I applied in October, I was only notified in the middle of April that I got a 4 year. Good luck!
wow even when you applied early? I submitted my completed package November 11th and ive been checking every day since the board date. Its hard to imagine myself still checing 5 months from now. But I guess thats the way it works

Yes, the guidance from @FastFood44 is spot-on. it's often exactly how it works. You may get an early surprise but many of the candidates from our HS/ area spent months waiting and ultimately heard in mid-late April. Buckle-in, limit yourself to checking once daily if you can (my lesson learned from checking that portal way too often last year), and best of luck.

I hate to break it to you, but Nov 11 isn't exactly early. Many applicants had their applications submitted in August, so they could be reviewed during the first board, which is generally held in September. Also, just because you submitted that day, does not mean it is immediately ready for review by the next board. When my DS submitted his application three years ago it took a week or two for the status to change to show it was ready for the board. I'm not saying you are late or anything, many applicants will submit their applications between now and the deadline. Just saying you are not necessarily early. You may be a very strong applicant and be awarded a scholarship the first time your application is reviewed. But, as stated above, you may be waiting until mid to late April for a final decision.

Oh I agree with you, I was not considering mine early or anything. I am well aware that some applicants submit theirs in August or September. I was talking about how FastFood submitted their application in October and did not hear back till April. It surprises me that some submit their application in the earlier months and do not hear back till 6 months later. I think I am right in the middle but I do not consider mine earlier. Thank you for your feedback.
