So just to make sure I understand the admission process and how the WCS gets calculated and then updated...

"For USNA, the board, totally independent of nominations, commences meeting in late August, usually with the better of the completed records. The points of the record are already calculated. The Board adds RABS, points which they feel warranted after their review. They then recommend qualified, not qualified, or delayed. If not qualified, they recommend either NAPS/Foundation or not. If qualified, they recommend LOA or appointment as available by merit. The record with total calculated points is then shelved. The Board is complete. It is on the strength of these points that the package progresses. Should they wait until the MOC nominations, they would be overworked tremendously during Dec/Jan.
Additionally, any subsequent achievements are added by the CGO as required until the record is closed in March. However, the record will not go back before the board again."

Correct? When does the WCS gets rescored/ updated? The file goes to the Board at some point the second time?

What are you quoting from? And what does the RABS acronym come from?
This is from an old post I found on this forum. I am not sure what RABS stands for.. I was just trying to figure out if a new score gets developed once the 7th semester grades are received/ reviewed and whether the file goes to the Board for the second time once the grades are received.

I think USNA defers your application if they need your 7th semester and then they review it again after requesting and receiving the new grades. Not everyone gets requested so they may come up with a decision right away.

Quoting a statement made in a prior forum thread is hard to comment on without knowing the context. Was the person posting an opinion or actually taking a statement from the official USNA website?

Statements like:
Should they wait until the MOC nominations, they would be overworked tremendously during Dec/Jan.

sound like an opinion.

Might also look here for their official wording on 'steps for admission"

So is the WCS used to determine the academic qualification in the 3Q, of is it a separate thing?

While I admire the never ending search for information and understanding of the USNA Admissions process, I would recommend caution when relying on everything you see on the internet. First, the linked thesis is one person's summary of the process, the process was not even central to the paper, and the information is over 10 years old.

It is my understanding that the Application goes to the Admissions Board once...and the Admissions Board makes the determination of whether the candidate is Qualified (one of the 3 Q's). There are of course exceptions, perhaps a material change in academic performance or ACT/SAT, but for most ...Admissions takes one look.

What happens in the event of an updated SAT/ACT score and/or CFA? Is WCS recalculated? If so, does application ever get back before the Board?

Just an educated guess, but supporting @Old Navy BGO comments, is that it depends. The WCS is largely on objective process done outside the admission's board. If they take the packet to the board and it is qualified with a 30 ACT score as an example, it would not need to go back if the applicant's new scores go to 32. The counselors would just update the WCS based on the scores. If the candidate is deemed not qualified for some reason and that reason significantly changes with updated items, that person may go back to the board.

WCS changes all the time. Candidates are encouraged to submit additional items through the application process. The process is pretty objective, though secret, on scoring. Changing your ACT from 30-32 would give a fixed amount of points.
