Hello! First-time poster here. I’m a candidate for USMA and received a nomination from my district congresswoman.
Now, as I have not spoken with her yet, I am unsure if I am a principal nominee. Since I have an LOA though, and received the nomination, does that mean I have an almost 100% chance of getting accepted even if I DONT have the principal nomination?
I am just so confused with this principal nomination stuff along with my LOA, and I would appreciate some guidance to ease my mind a bit.

You do not need a principal Nom. What does your LOA say? If it says you need a Nom and you have received one, then it should be a matter of time. If there are other conditions of the LOA have you satisfied all those?

With your LOA, you need the following to receive an appointment:
  • nomination (received)
  • pass the CFA (this is Pass/Fail and USMA will determine this status based on your results)
  • medically qualified (DODMERB will advise the academy of qualification status; if DQ'd the academy, at its discretion, can request a waiver which means a request for further review
  • academically qualified (the academy determines this)
In short, with your LOA, it does not matter whether you are the principal or not; you are, by virtue of the LOA, guaranteed an appointment if the above criteria are met. Hope this helps.

Yes! This helps me so much. Thank you kindly!

Just curious...

Any STATS out there where candidate has LOA and is 3Q (above #2, #3, and #4 are met)... but no Nom given?
