Okay so Ds received a 3 year Army ROTC scholarship, so what is the next step? Do I wait for the letter before initiating the DoDMerb? Or should I be working on that right away? Also with a 3 year scholarship, how is that handled financially? First 3 years? Last 3 years? And finally The University my son is going to will pay for room and board if you are on ROTC scholarship, does that mean just for the 3 years awarded? I have a call in to the ROO but with all the knowledge here might get a better list of questions for him. Thanks all.

questions

I believe DODMERB will contact you about physicals etc. The Scholarship is for the last three years of college. I think you would need to contact the individual college about how they would handle R & B.

One last thought, you should consider allowing your DS take the initiative in getting these questions answered. I'm thinking he'd have a better chance at upgrading to a 3.5 or 4 if the first contact at the battalion is from him and not Mom or Dad.

Good Point

Good Point on that. I will have him contact the ROO instead. Hard to let go of somethings I guess.

Agree with above. Just something else to keep in mind. The monies "received" from the college for Room and Board will be considered taxable income by the feds and probably the state. You still come out way ahead but I would hate to be surprised by this so wanted to make sure you knew.

The offer letter will answer a lot of those questions. Recommend waiting for the offer to arrive. Also, talk to the ROO!!

The offer letter is only sent snail mail correct? I don't see anything online.
