Received email to accept/decline

Our DS received the following email below this morning but there is nothing on his portal tab to accept. This is the site we have been using since the start of the admissions process. https://usafa.force.com/afacademy/TX_SiteLogin?startURL=/afacademy/TargetX_Base__Portal
Also our DS never got a nomination for AF that we were aware of. Is there another web site to access the decision letter? He already emailed admissions and mentors on his portal but haven't heard anything yet. He already accepted his West Point offer so this is throwing us for a loop. Any help would be appreciated.

Your deadline to accept or decline your offer is rapidly approaching.
If you have not already done so, please log into your USAFA Admissions portal to view your decision letter and deadline.
If you fail to respond by the deadline in your decision letter, we will note your lack of response and record it as a declination.
We wish you the best of luck in pursuing your dreams!
Sincerely,

USAFA Admissions

It can happen. I did not have a nom until the point of appointment in June when one was "found" on my behalf.

You are the third person on this forum that received this email today.. This is so bizarre!

The link directs to the same portal information we already have with no correspondence.
Odd. I put in my credentials in your link and the following page was a dead link. The one I provided went right in to my portal.

I think some updates are being made. Keep refreshing...In the candidate kit, the option to "reapply" has disappeared.

This what it shows as of now

Same here too! Does the portal only update overnight? Will USAFA request to have a congressional recommendation reissued if you had not received one for USAFA?

Not sure could take some time for them to load the status into the portal but seems kind of backwards especially since there is a cutoff date and none of us know what that is.

Are you thinking this is only for prep school or can be it also be for a direct appointment?

I would think a direct appointment as it didn’t specify prep. The fact that we didn’t get the nomination for Air Force academy but for other academies is what is throwing me off. Also seems like there’s a few of us that were accepted to West Point already.

The mentor ALO didn't see anything on his end either. He is looking into it. And the wait continues.

I received it and got a call that i received FFS and my portal will update tomorrow
Our DS got a call as well they offered the prep school. He already has an appointment to West Point and he can't logically turn it down to attend prep. I would imagine he would if it was his only option though. Good luck to you all

Hello everyone!

Steve the ALO here, not acting as a mod right now.

I contacted USAFA directly today to ask about this email. Trust me, they had already heard from a LOT of folks!

Here's what I was told to tell you all:

"Please inform anyone that received this email to contact their counseling team (Team Silver or Team Blue) and let them know you received the email. They will then look at your portal and tell you what it means."

Now, before anyone gets all nervous, let me say this: DO NOT start to second guess this. You won't know what it means to YOU until you speak with the counseling team. That's not bad news, that's not good news, it's just an action you are asked to take.

So...reach out to your counseling team ASAP and get the word from them.

Best to all!

Steve

Did they say if portal will update on 5/5 or when?

I would not make the decision on whether you received prep/not prep.

For me, I would turn down USMA direct and accept a USAFA Prep appointment. The one year makes little difference compared to the 5-and-dive or 20 year service commitment and 4 years of embodiment into the culture of the branch. If your DS wishes to attend USMA, then there is nothing wrong with that at all, it is a great institution. However, if the deciding factor is "how can I accept a prep offer if I received a direct appointment", I would urge you to take a step back and reconsider from the wider nuances.

A year is nothing, but your branch is your career.
