Received LOA and 3Q'd but no Nomination... possible???

This LOA line is adjusted up or down by COL Jones, the Director of Admissions, depending on the progress of the admissions process.

Sorry, did the director of admissions change? I thought it was COL Deborah McDonald. I even met her at SLE months ago.

I copied that from the West Point website direct. Copied the link. Gave the link:

If West Point doesn’t update names - it is still a document on their website explaining the issue.

This group is an independent non-profit.

USMA.edu is the official Federal DOD entity.
Westpointaog.org, the West Point Association of Graduates, is an independent non-profit.

Similar to:
USNA.edu, the DOD entity
USNA.com, the Naval Academy Alumni Assn, an independent non-profit organization
Navysports.com, Naval Academy Athletic Assn, an independent non-profit organization

While there are close ties among all these groups, the non-profits are independent organizations. Their websites are not always in sync.

LOL it looked official to me.

So ... that being said, other than the name being wrong ... is the info I posted from them wrong? We should let them know if it is. It looks like it is correct.

I found a MOC that says the same info too.

Although this thread has not been used in a long time, I was looking at this information as I am a recipient of a LOA but did not receive a congressional nomination from any of my senators or congresswoman. I am in the process of applying for a VP nomination but with how competitive it is, my chances are extremely low. I have reached out to my congresswoman's office letting them know that I have received a LOA but they said that unfortunately they do not have anymore nominations that they can give out anymore. But when I looked up a press release, I saw that the the office had nominated 9 out of 10 for the SA. Is there any special condition when a nomination can become available by a member of congress? I have also reached out to my senators but they very busy this time of year because my state is having a run-off during the holiday season. I have also reached out to my admissions counselor and will meet with him virtually on January 5th.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do? I am in desperate need of a nomination by February 1, 2021 because it is the last thing I must obtain for an offer of appointment.

I think you have done all that you can do. I recall you inquiring about this in a few places. Good for you for conveying your LOA to your MOC. Odd they only nominated 9? Especially with you having an LOA. It looks Like you have done all that you can. Applying for all nominations for which you are eligible. You meeting with your admissions counselor will be your best bet for info. Perhaps you are a strong candidate for them to use a VP nom?

Work on your plan B. And if USMA is your goal, if you do well next year in school, I would think you a strong candidate for a nom, as a prior year LOA holder and a re-applicant. ROTC is a good idea as it also gives you another nominating source. But you know all this.

All you can do is wait. And tend to alternate plans. It happens every year, as there simply isn’t enough space for all the exceptional candidates that apply.

My son is currently in the same situation....an LOA from the USMA, 3Q'd, but no nomination. Both Senators said no. Our regional congressman never received our application packet. They changed the email address because of server issues. They claim to have notified us, but we have no email to prove it. The reason we found out was that I decided to call and inquire. Regardless of who's fault, we're out with them too...ugh!

We have been working with a WP admissions officer through the entire process. So hopefully he can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I am as well in the same unfortunate situation with an LOA and 3Q but no nomination (MOC and Senators did not give me one). I am waiting on the VP but not very hopeful for it as if I couldn't even get a senator nom then I'm sure my chances at a VP nom or lower.

Keep an open mind. For the VP, the SA manages those and who gets them…the same people who gave you the LOA. There are no guarantees, but you are in play until told you are not.
