Hello!

I know many of us have received LOEs from West Point (from the latest LOE thread), but it increasingly seems like LOEs are common. Could anyone with inside knowledge address a candidate with an LOE's chance of being admitted to West Point?

I am extremely nervous, and all my friends have been receiving acceptances to their early decision colleges. Also, I received an LOE but the "Official Correspondence" section of my candidate portal is blank. Is that normal, or should I get that fixed?

Go Army! Beat Navy!

LOEs

It may seem like everyone is getting an LOE, but it may be because the people on this site and others are more involved in the process and more vocal about positive developments. I have no idea if there are more or less LOEs this year. I think it's still a good thing to get one. It took a couple of weeks for the LOE to show up on the Portal. We got the letter 5NOV and it was 15NOV when it was posted.

My DS got an LOE in the mail dated 5 SEP and it still isn't posted on his portal. I wouldn't worry about that on the portal if you have a hard copy in hand. (BTW, the SLE portion of DS's portal lists sessions 1 & 2 that originally were to be offered, even though week 2 was cancelled.)

Candidate2014, be encouraged (Letter of Encouragement)! West Point admissions does NOT hand out LOEs like candy. Only the most competitive applicants are rewarded with an LOE. If at all possible, take advantage of that overnight visit to WP. Just like your friends, you will have your time of celebration with an appointment to West Point OR your Plan B option. Keep working hard toward your dream. Best of luck to you.

Thanks!

Thank you all for the replies!

I received my LOE on OCT18, but it hasn't appeared in the portal. I'm doing an overnight visit during ski week (february break), so that should be fun :) Hope to see you all at R Day next year.
