I received a Coast Guard Academy appointment and I am currently DQed because of asthma at 12, and a concussion in the 9th grade. I am filling out the AMI's, wondering if anybody has any advice to make me more likely to get the waiver?

Hello, my DS just got medically DQ'd due to a concussion when he was 12. He has completely recovered, is a national athlete that trains 20 plus hours a week while maintaining distinguished honors.....there has been no symptoms since being cleared in 2015.....the waiver process was initiated...what can I do to help?

DS may google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" paragraphs 15-19 and 21 will now apply:wiggle:

Thank you, right now all we know is that a waiver was requested. No additional records were requested yet....I am hoping/assuming that anyone with a history of a concussion that lasted more than a month is an auto DQ? He took 6 weeks until he was fully medically cleared. I am praying hard this is resolved quickly!!
