I recently received a full appointment to USCGA For class of 2027, and after I completed my DODMMERB portion of the application, I started birth control strictly for my acne. I am also on another medication for my acne as well. I was wondering if I would be allowed to continue this during swab summer, or at the academy, as I do not need to be on either but I would prefer to be.

Birth control, yes. Acne medication, it depends which medication. I would reach out to your admissions partner and DODMERB, as you are supposed to notify them of any changes.

Probably depends on what the medicine is...minocin has photosensitivity side-effects (you get sunburn easily) but allowed if not severe nodulocystic acne. Accutane requires BCP's due to birth defects and is a no-go. No systemic (swallow or inject) retinoids. Refer to DoD Instruction 6130.03 "skin and soft tissue conditions"

You should report any change in medical history and treatment to DoDMERB.

I’m not on Accutane, and it’s not an antibiotic either. It’s called Aldactone for the acne medication and it’s Yaz for the birth control
